South Koreans Enjoying a meal of Whale Meat
Pusan, South Korea, 3 April 2005 - A South Korean couple enjoy a whale meat snack at a market in Pusan South Korea April 3, 2005. While Korea has no official whaling programme, if a whale or dolphin is found dead in a fishing net, it can be sold on the open market for huge prices - in 2004 the average price paid for a mature minke whale was US$100 000. It is perhaps no coincidence therefore, that Korea has some of the highest cetacean bycatch incidents in the world, second only to Japan. Greenpeace/Photo by Natalie Behring
